Dear Members, Partners, Players, and Friends of FC Germania Helsinki,

The year 2025 is a very special one for our club, as FC Germania Helsinki was officially founded exactly 10 years ago, meaning we can announce with pleasure that we are celebrating our 10-year anniversary. 10 years is an incredible milestone that we could only reach thanks to your support, for which we can only thank you! In particular, however, we would like to thank our sponsors, especially Bruhn Spedition and Hetzner Online GmbH, who have supported us for many years and have made it possible for us to build and maintain such a club and such a community! We would also like to thank Nordex Group, who are supporting us this year as an additional sponsor!

Anniversary Celebration

As a thank you for your many years of support, we cordially invite you to our anniversary celebration and family day to celebrate this special occasion together with us! Anyone familiar with our family celebration knows that it is our main event of the year, where we celebrate in a lively atmosphere and in large numbers. This year, the celebration will be bigger than ever! We therefore invite you to celebrate with us on June 14th, 2025. There will be food, drinks, and lots of games and fun for young and old!

Start of the Season and New Coaches for Our 11-a-side Teams

The football season has also begun for our 11-a-side teams as well as our 7-a-side teams for a few weeks now. Especially with our 11-a-side teams, some changes have taken place during the winter break; the teams have been expanded to be prepared for potential injuries, but also to have greater depth in both squads. The goal for both teams this year is therefore clear: to be at the top of the table!

After unfortunately having to say goodbye to Lukas Fliri, who coached our first team for a long time, we have now found a very good solution for our first team. We are therefore very pleased to introduce Martin Pfaffenzeller and Guillaume Jeannerot as the new coaches of the first team. Both have been an integral part of the team and the club for some time. And while they have previously primarily supported the team on the field, this year they will primarily lead and guide the team from the sidelines.

“We want to thank the club and the management team for its trust in us. After the bitter relegation last season we want to restructure the team and rejuvenate it. We want to give more young players from the Academy team the opportunity to play and establish themselves in the first team. We want to play successful and ball-dominant football and we believe we have a good mix of players together to be successful this season! The preseason and the first games have demonstrated the potential, but they have also highlighted areas we need to develop.”

Some changes have also taken place in our academy team. Matthias Hugl, who led our second team to its most successful season last year, has become a proud father and therefore unfortunately can no longer support and coach the team to the same extent as before. At this point, we would like to congratulate him on the new arrival and wish the new family all the best! However, our second team will not go into the season without a coach, as we are also pleased to introduce two very good coaches here: Nick Leeson and Nikita Ishchenko.

“First and foremost I want to take this opportunity to thank the leadership for the faith they have put in me and Nikita to lead the Akadamie team for this up-coming season. It’s our job to build on all the great work and foundations that were put in place last season to get the best out of the team. We have a huge amount of talent across this club, and I am very optimistic about what’s ahead for FC Germania this upcoming season. The atmosphere around the club is very positive at the moment and I do feel there is a real sense of unity and ambition within both squads. I’m trying to not look too far ahead or wanting to make bold declarations, but the target for the Akademie this season is to be challenging at the right end of the table.”

Nick Leeson

“First of all I’d like to congratulate everyone as we begin the 2025 season. It’s a proud moment to see how far we’ve come and even more exciting to look ahead and see what’s possible this year. Competing in Miesten Kutonen won’t be an easy task, but I believe in our strength, unity, and talent. We have what it takes to fight for the top of the table”

Nikita Ishchenko

This year also saw the first proper training camp for both teams, which took place from April 26th to 27th in Eerikkilä. Under the best conditions and with excellent facilities, the 16 players were able to prepare well with two training sessions and a subsequent sauna. The two “Mökkis” (cottages) where we were accommodated almost made the weekend feel like a vacation. Many thanks to Konsta Oikonomides for the organization, and to Eerikkilä Sport & Outdoor Resort for the accommodation.

News from the 7-a-side Team

Our 7-a-side team has started its summer training again on Friday evenings in Kumpulanlaakso. We were able to shape the transition from the winter season to the summer season with two highlights. At the end of April, we finished third in our group at the Hantta-Cup, and at the beginning of May, we won our opening game in the Hobby League with a resounding 7-0 victory. The long training sessions in our hall in Töölö during the winter have therefore paid off directly. We are looking forward to another great football summer.

News from Our Kids

The FCGH Kids group now consists of around 30 boys and girls aged 5 to 10. During the summer months, we train on Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in Käpylä or on Sundays from 12 PM to 1 PM in Arabianranta, divided into two groups according to age.

The highlight of the completed winter season was the successful participation in the Winter League (hobby level), which took place over several weekends between November and March. This allowed children born between 2014 and 2016 to gain playing experience and discover the fun of teamwork. In this summer season, we are planning two weekend tournaments where even the younger children will have the opportunity to try themselves out on the field.

We look forward to outdoor training in the coming months as well as new teammates. Parents of football-enthusiastic children born between 2015 and 2019 are welcome to contact Silvia (silvia@fcgermania.fi) if interested.
