Dear Members, Partners, and Players,
As the year draws to a close, we reflect on an eventful and turbulent 2025. At the same time, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2026!
Looking Back at the Year
Updates from the Board
During our last annual general meeting on November 8, 2024, a new board was elected for the forthcoming year and presented the overall goals for the club and the individual teams. There are no changes to the board and the board for the year 2026 is composed of:
- Lennart Schmitz (Chairman)
- Konsta Oikonomides (Vice Chairman)
- Oliver Boldt (Treasurer)
- Manuel Paul (Membership Administration & Technical Coordinator)
- Silvia Forin (Head of Youth & Kids)
We want to use this opportunity to thank our members for their trust and support! Additionally, a special thanks goes to our partners and sponsors – especially Bruhn Spedition and Hetzner Online GmbH – our long standing partners and sponsors and who make all this possible.
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary
2025 was a special year for FC Germania Helsinki, as exactly 10 years ago, this club was founded and we celebrated this special milestone together with all our members, partners, friends and families on a beautiful summer day on the 14th of June, 2025. We want to thank everyone who came by and helped make not just the day but more importantly the club into what it is today – a thriving, international community of friends.

That we’re able to celebrate 10 years of football, friendship and community is thanks to a small group of German expats who had the idea and initiative during one evening of watching football together to form a football team. In the beginning, FC Germania Helsinki wasnt much more than a small group of friends that played 7vs7 in the hobby division in Finland, but soon after gained the attraction of not just Germans but also other international and Finnish players, which led to the clubs growth. Today FC Germania Helsinki counts more than 150 active members, 10 supporting members and countless friends from more than 25 different nationalities, making it far more than a small German club.
The board wants to say a special thanks to our longest standing members, who have been part of the small group of friends who founded this club Michael Lautner, Kai Santjer, Hannes Förster, Michael Lutzeier, Konsta Oikonomides, Oliver Boldt and Tim Becker. We also want to thank our sponsor Bruhn Spedition, who made the celebration possible with a generous donation.

News from Our Teams
Our first team is looking back at a successful year in Miesten Vitonen, despite only narrowly missing out on securing a promotion spot back to Miesten Nelonen. The team that underwent a big change in the squad by incorporating younger players as well as new players, went on to score a total of 64 goals and winning 11 out of their 18 matches, securing the third spot in the league. All this was only possible to our newly constructed coaching team consisting of Martin Pfaffenzeller and Guillaume Jeannerot, who directed the team from the sideline for much of the season, until August 2025, when both decided to leave Finland and move on. We want to thank both of them for their work and efforts and want to wish them all the best in their future endeavors! Both will be missed as players, coaches, but more importantly as people. We’re happy to announce though, that we have found a capable new coaching staff for the upcoming season, Joonas Kananen, Félix Fabian and Theo Af Enehielm. All of them will also continue to be playing, while coaching as player-coaches, something they have shown to be more than capable at delivering during the last few matches of the season.
Meanwhile our Academy team has continued their development under the leadership of Nick Leeson and Nikita Ishchenko and played their best season so far, scoring a total of 29 goals and collecting 25 points out of 16 matches, which secured them a well-deserved 4th spot in the table. The team has shown great morale and spirit to secure some great points and matches, most notably a 2:2 against Mando United with players like ex-national team players Perparim Hetemaj and his brother Mehmet Hetemaj who played over 300 matches in Serie A and over 50 matches for the national team.
During the winter season, we have also started with weekly Futsal training sessions in Hakaniemi, open to all our players from 11er and 7er team, something well appreciated by the players.
News from Our Kids Teams
Our FCGH Kids program now includes 30 boys and girls aged 5-11 that train and play football together regularly. During the summer months they train on Saturday mornings in Käpylä. During the winter season they train indoors in Myllypuro. The trainings are held in two separate groups according to age.
The FCGH kids participate in hobby league tournaments like the winter league this season, which they are doing with great success. They also took part in the popular Pingviini Cup in the summer. The Christmas highlight was a visit from three football elves, who sweetened the Christmas party with cookies and games.
Training and games wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated volunteer coaches whom we would like to express our gratitude to! We look forward to playing and training together in 2026 and welcoming new children to our group! If you have any children born between 2015 and 2019, please feel free to contact Silvia (siliva@fcgermania.fi)

Lennart, Konsta, Oli, Manu, and Silvia
