Dear Members, Partners, and Players,
As the year draws to a close, we reflect on an eventful and turbulent 2024. At the same time, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2025!
Looking Back at the Year
Updates from the Board
During our last annual general meeting on November 9, 2024, a new board was elected along with goals for the year 2025. We are happy to welcome Silvia Forin as a new member of the board. She will oversee our Kids Teams, taking over from Manuel Paul, who will now focus on membership administration and technical support.
The 2025 Board is composed of:
- Lennart Schmitz (Chairman)
- Konsta Oikonomides (Vice Chairman)
- Oliver Boldt (Treasurer)
- Manuel Paul (Membership Administration & Technical Coordinator)
- Silvia Forin (Head of Youth & Kids)
We want to use this opportunity to thank our members for their trust and support! Additionally, a special thanks goes to our partners and sponsors – especially Bruhn Spedition, Hetzner Online GmbH, and Nordex Group – whose contributions make much of what we do possible.
News from Our 11-a-side Teams
Unfortunately, our second year in the Miesten Nelonen did not go as we had hoped, resulting in our first team being relegated to the Miesten Vitonen after two challenging, but insightful seasons. Despite good preparation, new players, and promising performances throughout the season, we often struggled to secure results. Nonetheless, the team never lost faith and remained united, something we’re very happy to see. A big thank you for that! We especially thank Lukas Fliri, who led the team as coach and player over the past two years. Lukas is leaving the club after three years, and his dedication, work ethic, and character will be deeply missed. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors.
Our second team, the Academie, had its best season yet in the Miesten Kutonen under the guidance of Matthias Hugl. Despite early challenges, the team finished in a strong 7th place, showing dominance and winning games as they came together as a team. At this point, also a big thank you to Matthias, whose efforts and contributions on and off the field made this possible!
News from Our 7-a-side Team
Training in Kumpulanlaakso this past summer was not only well-attended but a lot of fun. On the pitch, we kicked off the season with a highlight: 2nd place in the Good Friday Tournament hosted by GriFK in Kauniainen. We also secured a 4th place finish in the Hobby League, narrowly missing out on the knockout round. Since November, we’ve been training in our indoor kuplahalli in Töölö. Additionally, players from across all teams have come together for Futsal matches during the dark winter months. We plan to start the new season with another appearance at GriFK’s Good Friday Tournament, before the Hobby League finally begins at the end of May.
News from Our Kids Teams
Our FCGH Kids program now includes 27 boys and girls aged 5 to 10 who enjoy playing football together. They train every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, outdoors in Käpylä during the summer and indoors in Myllypuro during the winter. This year, the hall is available until 12 PM, giving children extra time to play or even challenge their parents to a match! The kids also participated in Hobby League tournaments. This season, they are competing in the Winter League and had a great summer with events like the popular Pingviini Cup, where ice cream rewards the players’ efforts. Last week, they were treated to a visit from the Football Santa at our Christmas party!
A huge thank you to our coaches Manuel, Pasi, Wolfgang, Thomas, Tamerlane, and Jonas for making these experiences possible. Parents interested in signing up football-loving kids born between 2015 and 2019 can contact Silvia at silvia@fcgermania.fi.
