From a kickabout among friends to an international club with more than 150 members – the key moments in the story of FC Germania Helsinki.
2015
When dreams are born …
A few Germans meet on a local pitch for the first time to play some football. On a dusty sand pitch in Espoo we play our very first match – looking at the photo, you might think it was much longer ago!

2017
Official founding
On 17 November 2017, the founding assembly of FC Germania Helsinki takes place. Shortly afterwards, the club is entered in the Finnish register of associations as FC Germania Helsinki ry.

2018
The cup comes to Helsinki …
We win the final of the DFT Cup for German-speaking football teams in Finland against Turbine Turku 09 – our first trophy. At the FC Germania Cup on 10 November 2018, our own women’s team takes the field for the first time: the “FCGH Ladies” beat Turbine Turku 4–0. In the same year, the club joins the Football Association of Finland.

2019
First league season – and straight up
After several “trial runs” in the hobby leagues, we enter a team in Kutonen, Finland’s seventh tier, for the first time. We crown our successful first season with direct promotion to Vitonen.

2020
Over 60 members from more than 20 countries
In its first Vitonen season, the first team finishes fourth. Within five years, an idea has turned into a club with more than 60 members from over 20 countries – and a community where social activities matter just as much as sporting goals.

2021
Three teams, kids’ football and 100 members
For the first time, we enter three adult teams: the newly founded second team “FCGH Akademie” plays in Kutonen, our 7-a-side team in the Helsinki hobby league. In April, together with the German School Helsinki, we start German-language football training for pre-school children. The first team reaches the promotion round, and by the end of the year we pass the 100-member mark for the first time.

2022
Champions and promotion to Nelonen
After three seasons in the sixth tier, each time narrowly missing out, the first team wins the Vitonen title and earns promotion to Nelonen for the first time. Our 7-a-side team also wins its hobby league group, and the around 20 children of the kids team play their first tournaments.

2023
First season in Nelonen
In the fifth tier, the first team has a lot to learn. On the final matchday it seems to go down on goal difference – but in December the football association offers us a free place in Nelonen, which we gladly accept.
2024
Relegation and the Akademie’s best season
After two instructive years in Nelonen, the first team is relegated back to Vitonen. The Akademie, on the other hand, has its best Kutonen season yet, and the kids programme grows to 27 children aged 5 to 10.
2025
10 years of FC Germania Helsinki
On 14 June we celebrate our 10th anniversary at KäPa Campus with members, families, partners and friends. Today the club has more than 150 active members from over 25 nations. On the pitch, the rejuvenated first team finishes third in Vitonen – 64 goals and 11 wins from 18 matches.
